I told the singers at our first rehearsal that I have never been more excited about St. Charles Singers. I made this point as well to our patrons at our SCS Circle Dinner held at Niche Restaurant in Geneva this past September. What a joy to prepare four very different and exciting programs for the upcoming season.
We begin with a special children’s program (new this season) Candlelight Carols for Children and the traditional Candlelight Carols programs in December.
In March of 2012 we present Teenage Mozart, a concert of music written during his teen years and our fourth in our musical Mozart Journey.
Our final very eclectic program entitled Music for a while completes our season. Music making for this choir and for me has never been more exciting. Be sure to check out the repertoire for each concert. I endeavor to select the finest choral music written and to make each concert experience unique and exciting.
Our venues are equally exciting. Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, our home, is an acoustic gem and visually stunning to be in. Holy Family Church, in Chicago is considered by many to be one of the finest places in Chicago to make music. It is a church of immense beauty and a perfect spot for the music of Mozart. It’s convenient, free parking also makes it a plus. We also return to 4th Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The beautiful sanctuary and location in downtown Chicago makes it the perfect spot for a lovely spring concert.
Please plan on being a part of our season of choral music. You won’t want to miss a single note.
With warmest wishes,
Jeff Hunt
