Carelle Flores

Carelle Flores

Soprano

A Mozart Journey IV marks the first performance for Carelle with the St. Charles Singers. She is originally from Augusta, GA, and moved to her city of heritage, San Juan, Puerto Rico, as a teen.

A graduate of the Indiana University School of Music, Carelle has performed the roles of Maria in West Side Story, Constanze in The Abduction from the Seraglio, and Mimi in La Boheme with IU Opera, Mimi at Ashlawn Opera Festival, Musetta (La Boheme) with Palm Beach Opera and Sarasota Opera, and Adele in Die Fledermaus with Sarasota Opera. She has been a Young Artist with Sarasota Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Carolina, and Virginia Opera. She was a National Semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in New York City for 2009, and she is a student of Virginia Zeani.

Although Carelle has focused her career in opera, she has a deep love and appreciation for choral music, especially for the works of Mozart, Faure, and Bach.

Carelle currently teaches voice at the Music Matters school in Batavia, IL, where her students range in age from five to thirty-seven years old, and sing a variety of musical styles, from classical and musical theater, to pop (her guilty singing pleasure!) Carelle enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, watching films, and long walks on her down time.
